From supporting local conservation efforts to implementing eco-friendly initiatives, we strive to protect the planet while providing unforgettable outdoor experiences for our guests.
Participation in Eco-Friendly Events: Outdoor Adventure Retreats actively participates in various eco-friendly events across its campgrounds throughout the year. At Wilderness Cove Campground in Saluda, North Carolina, we proudly support MountainTrue’s Green Riverkeeper and the organization’s efforts to keep the Green River safe and clean for everyone to enjoy. Through partnerships with MountainTrue, we participate in Green River cleanups and support initiatives to preserve this pristine natural resource. These events bring together staff, guests, and local communities to promote environmental awareness and take action to protect our natural landscapes.
Transition to Sustainable Products: As part of our commitment to sustainability, Outdoor Adventure Retreats is working towards the goal of using 100% organic soaps and cleaning supplies produced by Dr. Bronner’s. Dr. Bronner’s is renowned for its environmentally friendly practices, including using post-consumer recycled plastic bottles for packaging, demonstrating a shared commitment to reducing waste and promoting sustainability.
Prioritizing Environmental Stewardship: Environmental stewardship is at the forefront of everything we do at Outdoor Adventure Retreats. From reducing our carbon footprint to minimizing waste and conserving resources, we continuously seek ways to lessen our impact on the environment so we can preserve the natural beauty of our parks, and the natural amenities we provide access to, for future generations. Recycling programs, installing energy-efficient HVAC units and washing machines in our campground buildings and cottages, and staff policies regarding turning off light switches and air conditioning units when not in use are just the tip of the iceberg.
Promotion of Solar and LED Lighting: In our ongoing efforts to enhance sustainability, Outdoor Adventure Retreats is leaning into the use of solar and LED lights across our properties. These forms of lighting not only reduce energy consumption but also minimizes our reliance on traditional power sources, contributing to a greener and more eco-friendly environment.
Installation of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations: To encourage sustainable transportation options, Outdoor Adventure Retreats has installed an electric vehicle charging station at Wilderness Cove Campground and is exploring opportunities to install more stations at our other campgrounds. By supporting electric vehicle usage, we aim to reduce emissions and promote eco-friendly travel alternatives for our guests.
